Vintage Mid-Century Modern Skala American Studio Art Pottery Lidded Vessel - Circa 1950 - 1960Large vessel with fitted cover is incised signed on the underside Skala and is Circa 1950 - 1960. The sides of the vessel are slightly curved with a ribbed pattern accentuated with brown edges that are set against a speckled mat green glaze. The cover has a sgraffito spiral turned swirl pattern and a handle that matches the handles on the pot. The inside of this functional vessel is fully glazed. Skala’s work is inspired by centuries of tradition and a modern aesthetic to create pots for simple practicality and elegance of form.This fabulous hand-crafted art pottery was purchased in Bouckville, NY.
